splendid trail on lifjell. takes you quickly out of the Forrest and up on the mountain plateau. Trail is steep all the way until Langetjønn. after the lake you get a little flat part before the final incline up Jøronnatten. Down past the lakes of Holmen where there is an old dam at the end which was used to send waterflow down the mountains at certain periods to help log driving in the valley rivers below.
The lake Holmen (south one of the two) has a nice little sandy beach on the north side, great for a dip on summer days.
Valgjuvet is one of my favorites parts to run trough on Lifjell. It’s quite impressive with its waterfalls and steep sides.
The trail is marked with red dots of paint on rocks & trees and a signposts on most crossings. bid hard to find the right route when you get to Småholmen (i always manage to go to far north somehow).
Sheeps that graze up in the mountains create small paths everywhere, you would need to be extra vigilant of your surroundings so that you don’t take a wrong path. The trail is well marked.
100% – Pretty mush as run-able as it gets.
- small shortcut if you keep east from Jørronnatten past the lake Jørronatttjønna. Small trails to be found.
The trail takes you trough a crevasse with a nice streams with waterfalls on the way down, you can litterly see small fish swimming in it. There are sheeps grazing on the mountains and you’ll probably meet some on the trails at one point. There some pretty rock formations along the trail and in atuhm the vegetation on the mountains turns orange and red. Also the lakes Langetjønn, Småholmen & Holmen can be really beautiful.
Please remark that you shouldn’t drive-on the sheep in high speed. Slow down if they don’t leave the trail & yes the usually follow the trail for quite a bid before they move aside as this to them seems the easiest way to escape. Maybe find a way you can get around them if there is an opportunity.
- Good parking space at the start of the trail
- Tollroad kr50,- at the start of Stavholtsvegen, Bring Cash (anno 2018)
